Belated Yuletide Post
Jan. 7th, 2023 11:54 pmI had a wonderful Yuletide, look!
I received three gifts:

Additional Tags: Interactive Fiction, Episode: s04e05 Bad Habits, Trust Issues, second-person, Multiple Endings, Either Canon-Compliant or Canon-Divergent (depending), game mechanics
Summary:
I would wholeheartedly recommend all of these; they were all absolutely delightful. And I especially encourage any Doctor Who fans who would enjoy a bit of choose-your-own-adventure, whether you know GoR or not, to check out LitaQuest--it's all about exploring the TARDIS, even though it's a version of the TARDIS from a fan-made podcast (hence Yuletide eligibility!).
Also I had two INCREDIBLY fast writers: my Madness gift from believerindaydreams popped up almost as soon as the Madness collection opened, while Kitty apparently decided to write LitaQuest *on Christmas* and wrote, coded, and polished it in a matter of hours. (respectfully) Absolute madwoman.
But as we all know, just as much fun as reading your Yuletide gifts is writing them, and I had a very rewarding year on that front too!
I was assigned to Kitty and wrote her a Game of Rassilon fic:
A Big Rock Falls and Everyone Dies (1465 words) by lurking_latinist
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: The Game of Rassilon (Podcast)
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: The Doctor & Carrie Vu (The Game of Rassilon), Lita Fane & Carrie Vu, The Doctor & Lita Fane & Carrie Vu (The Game of Rassilon)
Characters: The Doctor (Peck) (The Game of Rassilon), Carrie Vu, Lita Fane
Additional Tags: Temporary Character Death, Adventure, Friendship, slight meta-ness depending how you read it, Time Travel, like more so than usual
Summary:
It was really fun to spend time in the GoR 'verse--and in Carrie's mind specifically--and since Kitty was responsible for getting me into GoR in the first place, it was really lovely to exchange gifts with her in this fandom!
Which I followed up with a little drabble, just because I'd thought of a joke that didn't quite fit into the main fic:
Every Beatles Song at Once (100 words) by lurking_latinist
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: The Game of Rassilon (Podcast)
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: The Doctor (Peck) (The Game of Rassilon) & Lita Fane & Carrie Vu
Characters: Lita Fane, Carrie Vu, The Doctor (Peck) (The Game of Rassilon)
Additional Tags: Drabble, Yuletide Madness Drabble Invitational, Humor, running jokes
Series: Part 64 of Aurelia's Drabbles
Summary:
And I was over the moon that somebody requested my favorite underappreciated Greek tragedy, Philoctetes, so I had to write a treat for that too:
whether he holds this same space still (200 words) by lurking_latinist
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Philoctetes - Sophocles, Ancient Greek Religion & Lore
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Odysseus & Philoctetes (Ancient Greek Religion & Lore)
Characters: Philoctetes (Ancient Greek Religion & Lore), Odysseus (Ancient Greek Religion & Lore)
Additional Tags: Yuletide Madness Drabble Invitational, Double Drabble, Chronic Pain, the internalized ableism of Greek heroic values, Loneliness, Hurt/Comfort
Series: Part 65 of Aurelia's Drabbles
Summary:
I think that's the first fic that I've written while actually referring to my own academic writing--I did a term paper on the Philoctetes a couple of years ago, and I reread the paper to remind myself what I found most interesting in the play.
The recipient said they were particularly interested in exploring Odysseus' character, and at first I wasn't quite sure how to think about Odysseus' character, but then I remembered he's basically just Seven. Awful little schemer, wanderer, dedicated mentor, morality veers across stories from "what a great dad <3" to "will stab you in the back for arcane reasons of his own"... and I thought, well, okay, that I can write! The play doesn't show him at his best, and the recip said they wanted to see a more positive side of him, so thinking about how those nuances might fit together really helped me, although I don't think much of it ended up in the drabble itself.
I hope you've all had a pleasant time, whether you've been celebrating and/or Yuletiding and/or not!

You are Lita Fane, and you're determined to get some answers - even if you have to turn the whole TARDIS upside-down to find them.
I would wholeheartedly recommend all of these; they were all absolutely delightful.
