15 Characters Meme - Answers!

Thanks for the incredible meme questions, everyone! Here's the characters I selected:
  1. Eighth Doctor (DW)
  2. Romana II (DW)
  3. Weyoun (Six, the ‘defective’ one that runs away - DS9)
  4. Fitz Kreiner (DW)
  5. Clara Oswald (DW)
  6. Sixth Doctor (DW)
  7. Charley Pollard (DW)
  8. Ezri Dax (DS9)
  9. Pippin Took (LotR)
  10. Sam Vimes (Discworld)
  11. Seventh Doctor (DW)
  12. Sir Humphrey Appleby (Yes Minister)
  13. Kira Nerys (DS9)
  14. Peri Brown (DW)
  15. Keiko O'Brien (DS9)
I randomized them after I came up with them, so that people wouldn't necessarily be next to people they knew.

From [personal profile] thisbluespirit:

2 (Romana II) is publishing 10 (Sam Vimes)'s tell-all memoirs - can 3 (Weyoun 6) succeed in stopping them and what's the secret they don't want them printing?
(Gosh, it's confusing how many of my characters are already numbered.) Well, I think if Vimes is publishing his tell-all memoirs he must be really unhappy with the state of things in Ankh-Morpork. I don't think he'd like Romana much--she's too posh for him and thinks she knows how things should be run--so I can't imagine they have some kind of sordid past together. More likely he's going to expose something about the diplomatic relationships between Ankh-Morpork and the Dominion, presumably to the benefit of Gallifrey. (Ultimate crossover of ultimate destiny!) I don't think Weyoun will succeed in stopping them, especially since this is the renegade Weyoun, but Vetinari probably will.

6 (Sixth Doctor) and 9 (Pippin Took) go on a blind date. How does it go and why is 7 (Charley Pollard) trying to sabotage it?
I don't think there are sparks, but I can definitely see Sixie taking Pippin along as a companion--he's enthusiastic, naive, bright-yet-dumb, and appreciates the pleasures of life. Charley is presumably trying to break them up out of jealousy. She's the companion, thank you very much!

1 (Eighth Doctor) has been murdered! Why did 8 (Ezri Dax) do it, and can 12 (Sir Humphrey Appleby) and their trusty sidekick 11 (Seventh Doctor) solve the mystery in time? What kind of red herring is 4 (Fitz Kreiner)? I can only assume Ezri was messing about with Joran again and he made her do a murder. Maybe Eight was trying to use his multi-life experience to help her come to terms with Joran (and figure out why "Field of Fire" made no sense). Poor darling. :( Sir Humphrey and Seven (incredible combination!)--well, either of them could separately solve the mystery in about five minutes, so together they should be even quicker, but in fact I think they slow each other down considerably by constantly lying and concealing information from each other. I think they end up each trying to arrest her separately, each thinking that the other is an enemy agent. Poor Fitz is a red herring simply by being shady and in the way: neither of our detectives can believe that he was genuinely "just hanging out" in the area of the crime.

From [personal profile] romanajo123:

6, 4, and 3 (Sixth Doctor, Fitz Kreiner, and Weyoun 6) are on a road trip! Who's driving and who's in the back? Well, the Doctor’s definitely driving. I’m going to bet that he’ll quite like Fitz (Eight has such good taste in companions) and let him ride shotgun. On the other hand, it would be just Fitz’s luck for Weyoun to manage to get him relegated to the backseat, and the Doctor would certainly be intrigued by Weyoun as a fellow ‘defector from decadence’ as TVtropes puts it (since that's the Weyoun I picked). So I’m going to say it’s poor Fitz that has his long legs folded up in the back.

1 and 9 (Eighth Doctor and Pippin Took) have to be fake-married to get away from 2 (Romana II). Does it work? Eight won’t be uptight about the fake marriage, although Pippin might spill the beans by mistake. But Romana knows the Doctor far too well and sees through it immediately.

Under what circumstance do 7 (Charley Pollard) and 12 (Sir Humphrey Appleby) fall for each other? You know, I’ve always wondered about the never-quite-seen Lady Appleby! But I think it would take very specific circumstances to get them together. Perhaps if Charley had never travelled with the Doctor (and if they weren’t a generation apart) she might eventually decide to find a man who had money, status, intelligence, and wit and could give her an interesting life, if she’d given up on falling in love. … I have absolutely no sense of what Sir Humphrey’s attractions are based on. … OR! He’s the sort of husband she might be given in one of those situations where you get a whole phantom life. He’d represent the well-bred conventional life she could’ve had. Yeah, that could work.

5 (Clara Oswald) has somehow locked themselves in the toilet. How does 11 (Seventh Doctor) get them out? Well, I’m sure he can pick locks, so no difficulty there. The real question is what they’re doing together! If she’s a Clara splinter, presumably she has to get out so she can save his life or something. But I quite like the idea of original flavor Clara + Seven as well. Given how she’s NOT A CONTROL FREAK!!! as she will be sure to let him know.

14 (Peri Brown) and 15 (Keiko O’Brien) have to investigate 13 (Kira Nerys)'s murder. How do they go about it? Do they solve it? Poor Kira! People need to stop getting murdered in these! Anyway, space botanist team-up, hooray. I think they have a pretty good chance. It can’t have been Dukat because he would gloat and there wouldn’t be a mystery, so it was probably Kai Winn. Keiko’s very driven and Peri’s the ideal sidekick, so I think they’d make a good team, and perhaps there would even be botanical evidence that gets them specifically involved. (The poison was extracted from berries that only grow in one location….) But the space botanist who would in fact make the best detective is definitely Ekaterin Vorkosigan, whom I nearly put in the list, and now I’m sorry I didn’t.

One (Eighth Doctor) and Ten (Sam Vimes) have to go undercover as musicians. How do they get on (or find excuses not to do it)? I think they might stretch the assignment a bit--is there room for a famous diva violinist and his scruffy, cross-looking bodyguard? Maybe?

All the characters have to play seven-a-side rugby. Who's on which team, who's the referee, and who wins? All I know about rugby is that it's a game in which people get knocked down a lot, so this will be based on that, and on picking teams:

Clara is the referee because she's organizing the game. She assigns the Eighth Doctor and Kira Nerys as team captains--it's only fair to have one from each of the two biggest fandoms on the list.

Major Kira picks Keiko, whom she likes and trusts, and who's from Earth and might have some context.

Eight picks Seven because he certainly doesn't want him on the other team.

Kira picks Six, a big burly guy to balance out her hitherto not-really-built-for-contact-sports team. (And, if she's been paying attention, to avoid having all the Doctors on one team--oh my!)

Eight picks Charley because he wants her around. And because in order to keep the game on track they should probably not be allowed to tackle each other. Anything could happen!

Kira picks Ezri because she doesn't want her to be picked last, and because she understands this is a game and it's supposed to be fun and Dax was always good at helping her have actual fun when she was being too serious.

Eight picks Vimes because... I don't know, I just think he would. I think Vimes has the qualities the Doctor looks for in a teammate.

Kira picks Romana because she looks like she knows what she's doing. She has the qualities Kira looks for in a teammate.

Flustered by the prospect of not having all his friends on the same team, Eight quickly picks Fitz. He becomes distracted when Fitz and Charley start trying to work out whether they're before, after, or somehow during each other, and (in subtext) which one of them has the better claim to the Doctor. They're both quite possessive. I think Charley wins though.

Kira picks Peri, the most athletic-looking and non-Weyoun of the remaining players.

Eight picks Pippin.

Kira picks Sir Humphrey.

Eight picks Weyoun.

I think Kira's team wins, unless the Doctors cheat somehow. She made her choices with a view to actually playing the game, mostly, whereas the Doctor was more interested in assembling the maximum number of people he really likes a lot. Of course, that's basically how he picks companions, and that seems to have worked so far. So who knows really?

But actually what will happen is there will be an alien invasion of some kind before the game is concluded and the two sides will join forces to defeat it magnificently and with the minimum violence possible in the situation, and Clara will decide who she thinks was winning before they stopped playing. But actually I also think she'll pick Kira's team. The Doctor doesn't need that kind of ego boost.

and can 12 (Sir Humphrey Appleby) and their trusty sidekick 11 (Seventh Doctor) solve the mystery in time? What kind of red herring is 4 (Fitz Kreiner)?

LOL, that is indeed a team-up! And poor Fitz, obviously he is just a red herring. Typical.

The seven a side rugby also made me laugh a lot, as did Clara getting locked in the toilet. Honestly, she should just be relieved it wasn't Twelve who found her, because there would have been considerable amusement on his side. XD

I want 7 and shard Clara now.

Love the last one, it’s fun to think about

Sir Humphrey and the Seventh Doctor teaming up is both incredible and awful and I want to see it in fic now.
